Patients have greater choice and control over how they receive their healthcare.

The right for patients to have a choice forms part of the NHS Constitution. Integrated Care Boards are required to make arrangements for patients to exercise this choice.

Patients are being empowered to shape and manage their own health and care. The Government have outlined the choices available to you in the NHS in a framework.

The framework explains:

  • when you have choice about your healthcare
  • where to get more information to help you choose
  • how to complain if you are not offered a choice

More information about patient choice is available on the Government website – The NHS Choice Framework.
